What are some of the benefits of trading in my SD PVR to the DStv Explora?
There are so many benefits, but we've picked the top 7 differences that will hugely improve your entertainment:
The DStv Explora is HD capable, allowing you to watch movies, sport & series with crystal clear images and colours
Where your SD PVR only has space for 80 hours of recordings, the DStv Explora has space for up to 110 hours of your favourite shows
Your new DStv Explora has series recordings - it’s so easy to use (there’s no need to set separate recordings for each episode)
On your old SD PVR, DStv Catch Up is only available to our Premium customers. On the DStv Explora, it's also open to DStv Extra and Compact customers
DStv Catch Up has over 150 hours of the latest shows (whereas the SD PVR only had 20). And it doesn’t only have series and sports, it also has movies, kids' shows, documentaries and series stacking (where we bring you up to 4 episodes of the latest shows).
You'll find more than 30 BoxOffice movies
On your old SD PVR, BoxOffice is only available to DStv Premium customers. On the DStv Explora, it’s also available to DStv Extra, Compact, Family, Access and EasyView customers!
What happens if I don’t trade in my SD PVR decoder?
You can continue to use your SD PVR, however, if it breaks, we will not be able to repair it. Additionally, we recently launched a new satellite and it uses frequencies that your SD PVR isn’t able to receive.
Do I need to upgrade my installation to use the DStv Explora?
It is likely that you will need to upgrade your installation. The recommended installation for the DStv Explora is an 80cm dish and a DStv Smart LNB. If you are linking multiple decoders together for XtraView, we recommend you contact your DStv Accredited Installer.
In order to view in High Definition, you’ll need to connect your DStv Explora to a HD TV with the HDMI cable. Please note that you’ll only get access to those HD channels available on your package.
Can I watch more than one channel with a DStv Explora?
The DStv Explora is not a dual view decoder, but can be linked to TWO more XtraView capable decoders to give you access to three live channels at the same time. You can find more info on XtraView here
What are my options if I have decoder insurance for my SD PVR?
When your decoder breaks, we’ll provide you with a replacement DStv Explora and DStv Smart LNB. Alternatively you can take one of the available trade-in options (at full price).
If your SD PVR is still working, you can bring it in now and trade it in for any of the available options (at full price).
