The DStv Explora comes with a 12-month warranty. You can also take out a Decoder Care Contract
which insures the decoder against lightning, theft and damage.

What features are available when I connect my DStv Explora to the internet?
Once you’ve connected your DStv Explora to the internet, you’ll:
- Discover hundreds of extra DStv Catch Up titles. This includes more series, movies, sports, kids’ shows and exclusive content all downloadable (via internet) straight to your DStv Explora to watch in your own time.
- Be able to schedule recordings when you’re away from home so that you never miss out on your favourite shows.

Will I pay extra to use the PVR functionality?
Yes, there is a monthly Access Fee of R85. Please note that enabling the PVR functionality does not necessarily give you access to HD content, BoxOffice or DStv Catch Up as these are only available on selected packages.
Why isn’t the DStv Explora a dual view decoder?
The technology for a dual view HD PVR is not yet available at a cost which would make this product commercially viable. XtraView takes care of the second viewing environment.
Can I trade in my current decoder / PVR for a DStv Explora?
There is a trade-in option for the SD PVR. If you bring in your active SD PVR, we'll give you a R500 discount on the DStv Explora (you'll only pay R999).
What decoders can be linked to the DStv Explora in XtraView?
The DStv Explora is compatible with all the other XtraView capable decoders (11 series single view decoders, DStv HD Decoder and all of our HD PVR models).
Does the DStv Explora come with a HDMI cable?
Yes, both a 1.8m HDMI cable and a RCA cable are supplied with the DStv Explora.
Do the existing remote controls work with the DStv Explora?
No, the DStv Explora has a brand new remote control which is packaged with the decoder.
What installation is required for the DStv Explora?
The performance of the DStv Explora is directly related to the quality of the installation (including use of approved equipment and correct alignment of the satellite dish).
Installation of the DStv Explora requires an 80cm satellite dish together with a DStv Smart LNB.
If the DStv Explora is installed with any other type of LNB, the installation may require changes to receive future services.

Does the DStv Explora have a USB port and can I use it to view my own content?
The DStv Explora does have a USB port but it cannot be used for this purpose.
If I want to connect my DStv Explora to the internet, will I need to make any changes to my current installation?
You won't need to make changes to your satellite installation. You will need to connect your DStv Explora to the existing internet in your home, though (either using our DStv WiFi Connector or by linking it up to your router by means of an Ethernet cable).
